Nice!! Support post in or outside. Mind that a tree “recently un rooted” may alter depending on conditions (heat, humidity, etc) under which it is applied…

You’re right that live trees still can change size when dried. But this one was unrooted and mostly dead already. And to be sure, I have mounted in such a way that it can shrink 1 inch without a problem.
I looked it up and a tree will shrink mostly in diameter, not in length. So my support tree should be fine
