Today the last 3 big drawers were added to the bar, and the fronts were stained.
So in total, there are now 9 drawers and 1 waste-bin.
That should be enough storage space to not miss hanging cabinets.
The only thing now missing is the backsplash; the edge at the back of the countertop.
I’m still in doubt if I should also make that stained birch,
or maybe put in an accent like a strip of tiles? Opinions are welcome.
In any case, I will add 2 power outlets, handy for kitchen devices, charging on the bar, etc.
The wires can run behind the backsplash.
Perhaps cut up left over floor tiles and use as backsplash?
Or google for glass tile backsplash, the skinny ones. They are trendy/cool.
In any case: solid effort, look very good!
Glass is nice, but most are too big, so would have to be cut
I would go for floor tiles; that is, if these are not too rough (hard to clean properly). You don’t want a new type of bacteria or fungus develop their habitat, there. (They are not too thick; taking too much space??)
Second option; stained birch… question: is that water, dirt (grease e.g.) resistant enough???
If not, cover it with the already suggested glass. My suggestion though; no tiles but a clean glass plate. Easier to clean, to fix and to glue (in Dutch ‘afkitten’).
and… it looks very neat and nice! Well done!!
(You see; I do give compliments so now and then.)
Unlike you!
(sorry have to confirm your explaination of our friendly, verbal fights!)LOL
Stained is indeed not 100% stain proof. Tiles could be an option, but I’d have to open a new box of tiles and with what I still have, I have Just enough to cover the upstairs bathroom. But you got me thinking: how about Epoxy resin on both the bar top and splashzone? It’s a two component resin that dries up looking and almost as tough as glass
This is an example what the glass tile backsplash looks like – they are skinny height-wise.

But you still need to cut – but should work in tile-cutter I would think.
Well… glass does not cut like tile does. If they are glass, it seems risky.
Good option!!! Go for it!
